Dr Olumide Awe Memorial Lecture 2021

Igbobi College Old Boys Association Europe Branch are delighted to announce the 3rd Dr Olumide Awe Memorial Lecture 2021 following the success of the previous biennial lectures in 2017 and 2019.

Usually held as a dining event, COVID means the 3rd lecture in the series will be an online event.

The subject matter of the lecture this year is in recognition of some of the challenges faced by women.

There will be two lecturers covering two areas aimed at eradicating the culture of violence against women.

Ms Ireti Bakare Yusuf will speak on Rape Culture — a troubling development particularly amongst the youth.

Ms Ireti used to live and work in London but is now based in Lagos. NoMoreNG, founded by Ireti Bakare-Yusuf is a call to action against sexual violence in Nigeria, using our voices as change catalysts to end it.

Pastor Denrele Runsewe will speak to the issue of Domestic Violence which is another troubling issue affecting all ages.

Pastor Denrele, along with other trustees, runs the ‘Grace to Graces’ charity  which is affiliated with Jesus House, London. It is a faith-based charity founded in October 2013 and leads the ‘Break the Silence’ campaign.

The 3rd Dr Olumide Awe Memorial Lecture 2021 will take place online on 13 November 2021 from 4pm – 5.30pm GMT
